Monas
This 132m high column towering over Merdeka square is both Jakarta´s principal landmark. This phallic symbolises the nation´s independence and strength. Teh highlight of a visit is to take the lift to the top for dramatic views of Jakarta. Avoid Sundays and holidays when the queues for teh lift are long.

Sumbawa
Most surf trips to Sumbawa´s west coast will be organised yacht charters. To surf the south-east coast, fly or ferry to Bima and then hire a taxi or negotiate a series of buses to Huu to surf the Periscopes and Lakey Peak area.
